New Mega-Factory Coming to Taylor

Opening Hype: Samsung's Taylor campus is hitting its stride, with production launching this year, 1,500 employees expected on-site by year's end, and a second massive fabrication building already in the permitting pipeline. Why It Matters: The Taylor City Council recently extended its engineering services agreement with HDR Engineering to support Samsung's planned second fabrication unit, a staggering 2.7 million square feet at full build-out. That's on top of 4 million square feet already constructed on the 1,200-acre site. The broader $37 billion Central Texas investment is projected to generate 3,500-plus manufacturing jobs and 12,000 construction jobs within five years.

Bigger Picture: Samsung's Taylor operation represents one of the largest foreign investments in U.S. history, anchored further by $4.7 billion in federal CHIPS Act funding. As demand firms up from tech giants like Google, AMD, and ByteDance, the case for accelerating Fab 2 construction grows stronger by the quarter. With a future focus on cutting-edge 2-nanometer chip production, the Williamson County region is positioning itself as America's premier advanced semiconductor corridor.

Serves as a liaison between Samsung's Innovation Team and internal customers, designing mechanical hardware solutions for a semiconductor manufacturing environment, including 3D modeling, GD&T-compliant drawings, FEA analysis, and project documentation.

A Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years of active design experience is preferred, along with comprehensive knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), 3D modeling, and manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, and additive manufacturing. This position is fully on-site in Taylor, TX.
