Quick note before we dive in:

We're growing fast and I'm open to bringing on people who want to be part of it. We’re over 31,000 subscribers in Austin, 15 more media brands in other states, and an AI-first newsletter software that’s getting incredible feedback.

First, if you're in sales (ad sales, software, sponsorships, whatever) and you're interested in local media, let's talk.

Second, if you're an entrepreneur who's curious about AI, media, and how local news is changing, I'm open to an entrepreneur-in-residence type situation. Basically: you'd get a front-row seat to what we're building, and I'd get your brain and hustle.

We're not Google. But we're growing extremely fast and have tons of interest in what we’re doing from very big players (including 9-figure brands).

If either of those sound interesting, just reply to this email. No formal pitch needed. Just tell me what you're thinking.

Alright, let's get into it.

OpenAI released Codex app

OpenAI just released their Codex app, which allows you to run a team of agents as well as complete coding tasks.

Between this, Claude Code, and OpenClaw (you should definitely look up what this one is capable of) having a team of proactive agents doing things on your behalf is already here for the tinkerers out there.

But there companies are already working on simplifying everything for non-technical people to use them. So understanding their capabilities now is key.

Putting Williamson County on the Literary Map: Writer Thuc Doan Nguyen

Thuc Doan Nguyen is a writer based in Georgetown who exists to write stories about the places she is, including one that puts Williamson County front and center. Currently working on a romantasy novel set in the Austin and Williamson County area, Thuc is tapping into the region's mysterious crime history to create a story that local readers will recognize location by location.

Origin Story: There are no romantasy stories that I know of that are set in Williamson County and the Austin, Texas area that draw from the area's mysterious crime history," Thuc explains. Downtown Georgetown keeps joking that this little Victorian town is the "perfect setting for a Hallmark movie," but it simply hasn't been done yet. Thuc is changing that with a story that blends romance, fantasy, and real local landmarks.

The Early Grind: The hardest part early on was outlining the story into three acts and making it all make sense. But the breakthrough came when she explored the area on foot and got inspired by various places, weaving them into the narrative.

Lesson Learned the Hard Way: "Back up all your work and email it to yourself." A simple but critical lesson every writer learns eventually.

Why Williamson County: "It seems fairly untapped in a modern literary sense," Thuc notes. "There have been writers of yore here, but there are not that many stories that come from here based in the now/current day." With her parents living in Georgetown, she has unlimited access to writers' retreats in the Hill Country, an unfair advantage she's putting to good use.

What's Next: Over the next 90 days, Thuc is focused on more writing and welcomes partnerships, collaborations, and introductions to people who can help bring her WilCo story to life. Her daily habit? Going on walks in Downtown Georgetown, where inspiration strikes with every step.
